Well, if nothing else, this group wins the Capital Region Football “favourite name” award…
I was made aware of this program earlier today. While it appears that the region is not lacking for football camps (it’s difficult for me to compare since I don’t pay attention to other parts of the country), this one seems intent on taking it to a whole other level. Here’s an excerpt from the documentation they sent me:
It is our mission at the Ottawa Football factory to provide athletes with the both the necessary athletic (speed, explosion, agility and strength) and on-field skills development needed to improve a football athlete’s technical skills and knowledge required at their respective positions.
Our packages also provide a scouting service to those looking for the opportunity to play CIS and NCAA football. Included in our scouting services are: an assessment of athletes most recent game film and outline strengths of weakness of athlete, the creation of a highlight package for athlete based on film provided, video footage of athlete during workouts/testing and during field workout, advise regarding football institutions in both CIS and NCAA, information regarding academic requirements needed to be accepted into College/ University institutions (this includes SAT information, NCAA clearing house information etc.).
They are not messing around. The programs run from early January 4th to early June. There is one for High School players and another for the 10-14 age group.
While I’m on the subject of camps and training, I should make a general disclaimer; I am glad to give these whatever little publicity I can, but that does not make me responsible for them.
In other words, if I include information about a camp or training program and you have questions about them, contact the people actually running them. I’m not going to know any more than what I’ve posted.
If you don’t like the way they do business, take it up with them. If you need directions to the camp, you’re just as capable of using Google Maps as I am. Sorry if that sounds harsh but while I enjoy hearing from fellow fans, those kinds of e-mails are just a waste of time for both sender and recipient.
That being out of the way, I like the concept of the Ottawa Football Factory and hope it succeeds. If you are interested, director/founder Chris Bromfield’s phone number is included at the bottom of the 10-14 document. I look forward to hearing about this project as it develops.
